CCFC CODE OF ETHICS

The mission of The American Institute of Certified College Financial Consultants (AICCFC) is to educate and certify Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Personal Financial Specialists (PFS), Certified Financial Planners (CFP), Chartered Financial Consultants (ChFC), Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA), Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU), Enrolled Agents (EA), Certified Divorce Financial Analysts (CDFA), Accredited Financial Counselors (AFC), Financial Paraplanner Qualified Professionals (FPQP), and advisors who have obtained either a Master of Science (MST) or Master of Laws (LLM) in Taxation, or hold the Series 65 License in the areas of college and student loan advising.

Founded in 2017, the AICCFC is the issuer of the Certified College Financial Consultant (CCFC) credential, the premiere college and student loan advising designation that can be obtained by advisors who meet education, experience, and continuing education requirements.

Since holders of the CCFC must also be CPAs, CFPs, PFSs, ChFCs, CFAs, CLUs, EAs, CDFAs, AFCs, FPQPs, or have obtained an MS in Taxation, LLM in Taxation, or hold the Series 65 License, it is assumed that they currently operate under the following principles:

  • Integrity

  • Objective Advice

  • Competence

  • Fair Treatment

  • Privacy

  • Professionalism

  • Diligence

In addition to operating under these aforementioned principles, CCFC designation holders must also sign and abide by a Service and Fiduciary Oath in order to maintain their certification and remain in good standing with the AICCFC. Each CCFC designation holder must abide by the oath as provided below.

  • I will always put the needs and interests of my client ahead of my own.

  • I will act using skill, care, diligence, and professionalism at all times.

  • I will provide unbiased and objective advice at all times and will not mislead the client or recommend courses of action that violate any applicable laws or regulations.

  • I will avoid all conflicts of interest and disclose to the client any and all unavoidable conflicts before entering into a formal engagement or offering advice.

  • I will represent the American Institute of Certified College Financial Consultants (AICCFC) in good faith and will not participate in any activities or business practices that may tarnish the name and reputation of the AICCFC or the Certified College Financial Consultant (CCFC) designation at any time.

  • I will act as a member in good standing at all times by making a good effort attempt to build relationships with other CCFC designation holders and offering advice and insight where appropriate.

  • Should I fail to meet any of the aforementioned requirements, I accept that I may forfeit all rights and privileges associated with the Certified College Financial Consultant (CCFC) designation and will forfeit the right to use the CCFC designation in any public or private display or venue.

*The CCFC designation does not entitle or allow individuals to provide any services for which they were not eligible to perform prior to earning the right to use the CCFC designation marks. The CCFC designation does not enable individuals to practice public accounting, provide tax advice, provide legal advice, provide investment advisory services, or provide financial planning services in any capacity.
